One Night at Bruce’s Lodge

The past weekend I felt a window of freedom and fresh air in Bruce’s Lodge thanks to MKs team(Margarida, João, Mike, Rita and Teresa) . The spot is perfect to escape this strange and chaotic thing called Luanda and as my driver Manelito said: “Aquilo é uma Europa escondida. . .”.

Bruce history is fucking amazing, the guy has lived all over Africa and doesn’t give up despite his non risk profile has he says he his. We stayed there for almost 5h through the night listening to his stories of Africa experience. He was born in Zimbabwe where he saw and experienced the country growth being follow by the future decline . . . .For this same reason he lived and left many Africa countries never going to far away.

I wonder why . . .

Placed in the Kwanza river next to the sea it’ perfect to relax . . .and have a look what I found: Cazzo Bodrilo! Estás engarrafado e a viver em Africa meu!!! (Abraços aos Italianos metrosexuais)

Cheers

Home sweet Home

This is my new "palace". . .at least it's a palace compared to the nearby slum where most of the people live. I can compare the "palace" with many smelly things but the "palace" is more like a no window war bunker located in Luanda main avenue: 4 de Fevereiro.
Can you imagine the price of this war bunker?. . . . .just remenber that the Real Estate Market in Luanda is a "texas" there is almost no supply and the demand is increasing every second: This big bunker with 4 rooms has a 10.000€ month rent. . .shocked?? It's amazing . . . and it's really unbelievable if you think that half of the people here live in total poverty.

The first impact

The first impact with Luanda's reality is hard to describe! I can say it's impossible to be prepared for such a new world: yes I can say that Luanda city is a very different world that the one I was living in before.
I reckon that the images talk for itself.

The better known "Blood diamond" movie expression perfectly fits with the African difficult reality: T.I.A - "This is Africa".
Apart from this terrible truth Africa is a beatifull Continent with amaizing sights. Cabo Ledo, where I went this weekend, is a very nice spot to escape the city hardness.

I will keep in touch
